A Torture Cancer Donation page was created on the Give Local Everywhere site that will be active on that day.

Help the Foundation reach more people. You can fight the fear a diagnosis of cancer creates. Forward the information we post on Facebook and Twitter over the next two weeks to your social network. UCSF Waiting Rooms

January 9, 2014 By Strike Out Fear

God calls us not to see through each other, but to see each other through.

UCSF-Helen-Diller-Cancer-LogoOn Monday, December 23, 2013, The Torture Cancer Foundation delivered the first of two flat screen TVs, Blu-ray disc players, and sets of discs to the UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center. It is because of your donations, both large and small, and most importantly your belief in our vision that we can ease each other’s suffering, that we have the honor of providing this gift.

When we walked into the UCSF Cancer Center at 10:30am that Monday morning, you were by our side. It is your support that has allowed the Foundation to provide comfort and distractions- transforming the experience for thousands of patients in cancer clinic waiting rooms across the country. Every hour and every dollar donated will ease the burden of a person fighting cancer and their loved ones.

A second flat screen TV, Blu-ray player, and discs are the central elements of a new “Children’s Media Center” being created in the waiting room for the Orthopaedic Institute on the 4th Floor in 2014. Many of the 24,000 patients who visit this floor each year are children with bone cancer or orthopedic abnormalities. During the course of their treatment, a number of them will become amputees, which can be extremely frightening.

Currently, there is no special program or area for children at the Cancer Center. The Media Center corner will provide them with “their own little (safe) space” and offer a welcome and comforting distraction during treatment. Additionally, it will provide their parents with some relief while their kids are engaged in a soothing activity that they do not have to create.

We will post the before and after photos as soon as possible. Thanks again for all your support. We’re all in this together.

El Camino Hospital Remodel

October 9, 2013 By Strike Out Fear

IMG_2095-1024x768The Torture Cancer Foundation provided financial support for the recent remodel of four oncology clinic treatment rooms at El Camino Hospital in Mountain View. Decorated with hand-painted forest nature images and artwork donated by Art.com, the rooms provide a tranquil and soothing environment for patients during treatment.

It’s incredible. Bright and beautiful.” said Cancer Center Director, Medical Oncologist, Dr. Shane Dormady. He continued, “It almost puts a lump in my throat. These are emotional rooms, where you have to deliver good and bad news. I believe patients defeat cancer when their mind, their heart and their body are all moving in the same direction. These beautiful rooms are going to help people achieve that.”
