El Camino Hospital Remodel

October 9, 2013 By Strike Out Fear

IMG_2095-1024x768The Torture Cancer Foundation provided financial support for the recent remodel of four oncology clinic treatment rooms at El Camino Hospital in Mountain View. Decorated with hand-painted forest nature images and artwork donated by Art.com, the rooms provide a tranquil and soothing environment for patients during treatment.

It’s incredible. Bright and beautiful.” said Cancer Center Director, Medical Oncologist, Dr. Shane Dormady. He continued, “It almost puts a lump in my throat. These are emotional rooms, where you have to deliver good and bad news. I believe patients defeat cancer when their mind, their heart and their body are all moving in the same direction. These beautiful rooms are going to help people achieve that.”

Torture Cancer was invited to be the featured charity at the Mariposa Yacht Club Meeting on June 8, 2013. Each month, a different charity is invited to speak at the Yacht Club meeting and receives donations from the members. Club member Glenn Arlands, representative of US Beverage, learned about the Foundation as one of the sponsors of the 2012 Golf Tournament and thought the members, many of whom are Giants fans (the club is just blocks from AT&T park), enjoy hearing about David’s work with the Giants and his subsequent creation of the Foundation. In addition to speaking, the Foundation brought several items to auction at the event. David’s presentation and auction items were so well-received that the Foundation received the largest donation amount of any charity to date.
